Carlyle in Shirlington.

We’re getting iPhones soon, so I hope this is my last post with Blackberry pictures. They are so offensive-looking.

We headed to Carlyle in Shirlington for dinner on Friday night. It was such a cold night!

Fresh bread – always a win with me!

Pale Ale and Merlot.

We shared two appetizers. Lobster bisque (super rich).

and Mixed green salad: fresh corn off the cob, tomatoes, dates, sun dried cranberries & champagne vinaigrette.

For my main entrée, I ordered the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass with steamed with fresh leaf spinach in a soy sherry broth with sesame ginger, scallions & sticky rice. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had sea bass before, but it was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but the rice and fresh veggies mellowed it out.

z ordered the Jambalaya Pasta with sautéed shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage & penne pasta in a spicy creole sauce. He said it was just ok. Since we’re pretty used to good, authentic New Orleans food, this didn’t even compare.

We were stuffed by the time we left! Our server was really nice and the food was pretty good but not great and a little on the salty side. I’m not sure we’d choose to go back to Carlyle, but I’m glad we tried something new.
