Last Day in Bar Harbor – Return to Portland (August 13, 2010)
We woke up at 6:30. On vacation, this is usually not ok with me, but we were going to see some animal babies, so I got my butt out of bed and headed towards the coffee.
An early but very yummy breakfast!
I saw this sign every day in Bar Harbor and it’s true – dogs were welcome everywhere :)
All aboard the whale/puffin watch boat!
That tiny thing flying in the middle, is a puffin. We saw a lot, but they are really small and fly really fast!
Dun-nuh, dun-nuh, dun-nuh…
Nope, not a shark! It’s a humpback whale!!!
We saw several whales, harbor seals, harbor porpoises, and different birds (including the puffins). It was a long boat ride, but the whales made it so worth it!
After our sea life adventure we headed back towards the hotel to grab lunch. Grams Pizza was directly across the street and looked pretty tasty!
We all shared a pesto veggie sub (with coleslaw and pickles).
We also shared the “Garden Fresh” pizza which had delicious dough, olive oil, 3 cheese blend, sliced tomato, onions, green peppers, roasted red peppers, yellow squash, green squash, broccoli, black olives, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, pizza spices, and grated parmesan cheese. This thing was huge but oh so good!
With suitcases (and bellies) packed, we headed back to Portland.
I definitely wanted to explore Portland even though it was getting late and we had a 6am flight the next day.
We had dinner at Dewey’s because it looked really casual.
I asked for a local beer and got Allagash White Yum! :)
We all split fries!
Mom and dad split a chicken sub.
I was in need of a salad so I got a Greek salad.
I called z on the walk to the car and then we headed back to our hotel.
4:30 was an early wake up call on Saturday, August 14! We got breakfast at the airport! I don’t remember what time we got in, all I know is that we made it home.
Thanks for a great trip Mom and Dad <3
